Manuel was born in Mozambique. In 1990 Manuel joined fellow Mozambique artist, Amarildo Alberto at his art studio, 'Phambili' in Durban, South Africa, where he is still based today. In 1996, Manuel's work was selected for an exhibition in Australia. The exhibition not only gave Manuel's work international exposure, but also provided him with a new source of inspiration and knowledge to draw upon.

Through his artwork, Manuel's objective is to communicate his thoughts on life in Africa to the international community, with particular reference to family matters, relationships and love in general. He is also passionate about helping young African artists to establish themselves in both the local and international market.

The following artworks are a representation of the Artist's body of work. A wider selection is available for viewing at Afrikana Gallery in South Melbourne.
