| South African born, Marian Bosch's work deals with
the search for identity in journey and memories. Marks of identification and
symbols both official and unofficial left on walls, support structures,
bridges, roads and other public spaces are her personal ‘excavation’
sites.
Marian's artistic method is the deconstruction and reconstruction of mixed
media on substrates that include wood panels, x-ray sheets, cement mixes and
just about anything that attracts her interest and attention.
titlehough Marian's work seldom includes human images, her artwork suggests
the presence of people, their departure and their legacy. Structures such as
“Y” shapes correspond to bridge support structures of concrete and stone,
versus “Y” shapes of organic structures, tree stumps for example. Such
images become meaningful and spiritual; the language of her art. Marian's
artistic process announces intimate or public markings for contemplation and
reflection, both literal and metaphorical.
