Heather Mills graduated from the Wits Technikon with
a Bachelors Degree in Ceramic Design in 1998. Based in Cape Town, Heather's work has been described as feminine, whimsical and
exquisitely beautiful.
Heather is presently focussed on the tradition of hand thrown ceramics. The
work is delicately and skilfully thrown on the wheel, using white stoneware
clays. On selected pieces, shapes are cut out of the form, leaving a delicate
and highly ornate filigree skeleton of clay. The pieces are then coated with a
white ceramic medium, and the scraffito technique applied. This technique
creates intricate, gentle and subtle carvings on the surface of the clay.
Heather is passionate about quality, perfection and integrity, all of which
are reflected in her ceramics. Her finely crafted pieces seek to give pleasure
to those who use them, and embody her philosophy that - Earth, Water, Fire and
Passion bring life to these creations.
The following artworks are a representation of the Artist's body of work. A wider
